SAS (Ahmmad Ali Sarkar Memorial Association) was established in 2014 in Gaibandha to improve the standard of life of the neglected and backward communities. Later on, it started to expand its activities, and now it is operating its activities in other areas also subsequently. SAS was established out of social responsibility towards the people who need help and to fulfill the dream of the father of our nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. SAS is moving forward to implement multi-faceted social development activities like poverty alleviation, development of education, elimination of gender discrimination, assistance in natural disasters, youth training and employment training, and employment creating for the extremely poor women population, development of quality of life of minority groups, training, and employment creating for the people with disability, youth development, health and nutrition support for the poor people. It is a voluntary organization. Dr. Md. Shahidur Rahman Choudhary is a Professor at the Department of Social Work at the University of Rajshahi. He was born in Gaibandha district of northern Bangladesh. He obtained his MSS degree in 1998 (held in 2001) from the Department of Social Work at the University of Rajshahi with 1st position in the Faculty of Social Science. After that, he joined the Department of Social Work in 2002. Professor Choudhary obtained his Ph.D. degree from Rajshahi University in 2009.
Dr. Sirajum Munira is a diligent and intelligent person. She is continuously contributing to the education and research sector. She completed her MSS Degree from the Department of Social Work, University of Rajshahi. Later, she obtained a Ph.D. Degree in “Cohesive Approach to Primary Education in Bangladesh: Issues and Challenges" from IBS, Rajshahi University. She plays a role by Organizing various workshops and programs for women, for example, the prevention of the dowry system and child marriage.
Md. Azizur Rahman was born in Rangpur, the northern part of Bangladesh. He is a creative and experienced person and has been working as chief community development officer in Rajshahi City Corporation. He is working to improve the health and education of the poor people of the city area and solve the nutrition problems and the housing crisis. Mr. Rahman has attended 20 research training programs in many reputed organizations in Bangladesh. He has many years of experience working in HIV/AIDS.
